Why people use it: water-tolerant surface options, easy cleaning, broad appearance range and relatively straightforward replacement of damaged pieces in many floating systems.
Watch: subfloor flatness, product-specific temperature limits, seam/water behavior, emissions certifications and whether the manufacturer approves the installation method for a mobile structure.
Why people use it: real-wood surface and a more conventional residential feel than many resilient products.
Watch: standing water, scratches, expansion requirements, installation method and the difficulty of matching/repairing a discontinued finish years later.
Why people use it: warmer/softer feel underfoot and lower perceived hardness in a space where you stand close to the same spots every day.
Watch: moisture exposure, finish maintenance, denting and manufacturer-specific installation requirements.
Why people use it: durable, water-friendly finished surface and excellent fit for bathrooms/entries when the structure is designed for it.
Watch: added dead load, substrate stiffness, cracking from movement, cold/hard feel and more difficult repairs. For a road-going tiny house, those tradeoffs deserve extra scrutiny.
Follow the flooring manufacturer's substrate, adhesive, temperature, moisture and installation requirements. A THOW can introduce movement and weight constraints not represented by ordinary room-remodel guidance.
